We were recently contracted to find a workaround for a client who needed to store OLE objects in a MSS 6.5 (and later MSS 7) database.

Compuware Lab indicated that it could not be done since MSS appends 'extraneous' characters at the end of the BLOB (Issue 21776).

By examining how the IDF stored BLOBs in its repository it can quickly be seen there is at least one, and possibly several ways to fix the problem
