Example Searches for 1.4

Use the following examples to familiarise yourself with this Tool.

Example 1

To change the content of Labels from Client No. to Client Num:

In Search Criteria selection box, select TAG: Type of painted object

In Condition selection box, select Equals

In Value field, enter L

Press the ‘More’ command button

In the Search Criteria field, enter TAG: Contents of label in form picture

In Condition selection box, select Includes

In the Value field, enter Client No.

Click on SEARCH command button

In Replace section, select Label from selection box and enter Client Num: in the replace field

Click the REPLACE command button

Click the UPDATE command button

Click the COMPILE command button

Replacement is complete.

Example 2

To change the colour in a selection of Edit Boxes:

In Search Criteria selection box, select TAG: Type of painted object

In Condition selection box, select Equals

In Value field, enter F (for field)

Press the ‘More’ command button

In Search Criteria selection box, select FIELD: Widget type

In Condition selection box, select Equals

Press the Pick command button (it has the symbol ‘>>’)

Press Editbox and then Accept

Press the ‘More’ command button

In the Search Criteria field, enter TAG: Colour attribute of object in form ‘picture’

In Condition selection box, select Equals

In the Value field, enter 5 or press the Pick command button (it has the symbol ‘>>’)

Click on the SEARCH command button

In the Replace section, check the Colour box and enter 4 in the value field

Click the REPLACE command button

Click the UPDATE command button

Click the COMPILE command button

Colour change is now complete.

Example 3

To change all Text to Labels and set the vertical position to bottom:

In Search Criteria selection box, FORM: Component name should already be selected

In Value field, enter a value (eg: F*) to restrict the Components/Forms searched, or you can leave it blank to search all Components/Forms

In the next Search Criteria selection box, select TAG: Type of painted object

In Condition selection box, select Equals

In Value field, enter X (for text)

Click on the SEARCH command button, FormToolKit will now search your Components/Forms for tags matching your selection criteria

Using the mouse place the cursor in the first Type field in the results

Press ^detail (usually ctrl-d, or Gold-D)

Answer YES to "Do you wish to convert Text to Labels?"

Answer ALL to "Convert this one or all?" , FormToolKit will now replace Components/Forms tags matching your selection criteria

Answer OK to "You should now update"

Click the UPDATE command button

Text to Label change is now complete.

Press ^clear (usually ctrl-g, or Gold-G)

Answer Results to "Do you wish to clear All or Results", FormToolKit will clear the old results (this may take some time depending on how many results you had).

Your previous selection criteria has been retained, alter the Search Criteria "TAG: Type of painted object" in the Value field, enter L (for label)

Click on the SEARCH command button, FormToolKit will now search your Components/Forms for tags matching your selection criteria

Using the mouse place the cursor in the second-last small field (counting from the left) in the results

Press ^detail (usually ctrl-d, or Gold-D)

Answer BOTTOM to "Vertical Alignment?"

Answer ALL to "Convert this one or all?" , FormToolKit will now replace Components/Forms tags matching your selection criteria

Click the UPDATE command button

Click the COMPILE command button

Label vertical alignment change is now complete, and all forms are compiled.
