In order to enable the "upgrade" options, the installer must be created with
the same "product code" but with a different "upgrade code". Moreover, the
"product version" must be incremented and the change reflected in the
"upgrade paths".
(It's actually easier to do than to describe...)

Could it be that CVSNT installers are now distributed with the same "product
code" _and_ "upgrade code"? This confuses Windows, making it think that you
are trying to re-install the old version even if the package contains a new
one.
