[Cvsnt] email notification

Laurent,
as I said I have developed a mailer program that can be plugged into CVSNT to send email
when there is a commit on a module. The functionality relies on the loginfo and notify
scripts as normal, but the program invoked is not PERL with some script but my special
mailer program. It takes the command line arguments and standard output and compiles
an email which is sent to all users in the loginfousers file (new administrative file)
based on the email addresses stored in the users file (standard CVS format on this).
There is no configuration on what is sent, it is all controlled by the program itself.

Users not in the loginfousers file can still set up watches on special files and get mail
that way on changes to these. But they must be in the users file of course.

I am now at work so I don't have access to the zipfile I made for another cvsnt user
that asked yesterday, but I can send it to you if you like when I get home.

/Bo

Bo,
Thanks for your answer.
Could you please detailed a little bit your explanation because I suscribed
to the list yesterday and so I didn't follow your recent postings.

Laurent,
I tried to implement the mail system myself using scripting and other
tricks
but without much success. This may be caused by our Exchange 5.5 mailserver
we use
but I don't know. So in order to make it work I created my own Win32
mailing program
which uses the loginfo and notify script processing but formats and sends
the
mail message by itself. I have activated the CVSROOT/users file and added a
new
administrative file CVSROOT/loginfousers in order to store the subscribed
recipients.
If you like I could supply you with information on how my setup works and
also
the mailer program (CVSMailer, as you may have noted in some of my recent
postings
concerning the cvs ls command...).
Of course my system only works with cvsnt in a Windows NT environment.

/Bo

Hi everybody.

I would like to have email notification when I commit modules/files.

I 've read the artivle from the www.devguy.com site.

I would like to know if the creation of the user file will not conflict
with the system authentification.

Is it possible to send email notification without having to install perl ?

Regards

Laurent Drouet
