[Cvsnt] CVS reports: cvs [XYZ aborted]: reading from server: Invalid argument

The cvsservice.exe (and most other NT services) run under the System
account, wich is
different from the Administrator account.
Use kill.exe (from the ResKit) or pskill.exe/pslist.exe
(www.sysinternals.com).
