[Cvsnt] Cannot _checkout_ from Windows NT-Server (pserver)

Hello Bo,

no, the repository is really so deep located. If I create a CVS-directory
with it's 3 necessary files and then perform a update everything is fine.
But the ordinary checkout does not work.

Best regards,
Thomas Singer

|
|Your CVSROOT setting looks really weird!
|The part "d:\daten\projekte\geoi-2000\zzcvs" does not look
|like a repository
|to me, it looks more like a module specifiation.
|Are you really sure that your server has a *repository* buried
|this deep on
|the d: drive???
|My suspicion is that you have a repository located in d:\daten
|and there is
|a top level module in this repository named "projekte" or
|maybe repository as
|"d:\daten\projekte" and module "geoi-2000". In any case the
|CVSROOT must point
|to the *repository* and the checkout command to the *module*.
|If my suspicion is correct then it should look like this:
|
|set CVSROOT=:pserver:singer at sol:d:/daten/projekte
|
|cvs co geoi-2000/zzcvs
|
|This would create a sandbox geoi-2000/zzcvs starting from the
|directory you are
|in when you issue the command and populate it with all of the
|files in the zzcvs
|module.
|
|/Bo

|
|Hello Bo,
|
|I ran following commands (C:\test is empty):
|
|C:\test>set HOME=%USERPROFILE%
|C:\test>set
|CVSROOT=:pserver:singer at sol:d:\daten\projekte\geoi-2000\zzcvs
|C:\test>cvs checkout -c
|geoi2000    geoi2000
|
|C:\test>cvs checkout geoi2000
|cvs [checkout aborted]: end of file from server (consult above
|messages if
|any)
|
|
|If I build the CVS/Entries, CVS/Repository and CVS/Root myself
|locally, an
|update fetches the files. And, if I use the same cvsnt on my machine
|(instead of sol), even the checkout works fine.
|
|Perhaps this could be the reason: I installed the cvsnt on the
|server and
|configured it. At the first connection, it crashed with a message like
|"Could not find MSVCP60.DLL". Hint: shouldn't this file be
|included in the
|installation? I took the one from my machine (don't know, what program
|installed it) and copied it to the server (C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32)
|and from now
|on the normal cvs operations work, but not the checkout.
|
|Best regards,
|Thomas Singer

||
||Please post more details. Like:
||- your cvsroot settings when you fail and when you succeed
||- how the server is configured
||
||More detail means more hope of getting a reply.
||General questions like "it does not work, what can be the
||problem" often go
||unanswered because there is no information to go by. Please
||recognize that
||the cvsnt system is actually working on most installations so
||there is no
||general "this always fails" problem to reply with...

||
||Hello,
||
||I've sent this message a few days ago, but didn't get an
||answer. Therefor I
||try it again.
||
||Cvsnt (pserver mode) runs on our Windows NT server.
||
||I recognized, that I can't checkout from it. But I can update
||or commit.
||Even the checkout command runs fine, if I let cvs.exe list the known
||modules.
||
||The same cvsnt on my local machine works fine.
||
||I tried the old cvsnt-version 1.10.8 and the 1.11.1.2. Both
||have the same
||problem. The message from the server is "Server closed
||connection. Check the
||output log for details." (but there is not ouput log).
||
||Best regards,
||Thomas Singer
