hi steve,

unfortunately, our shop runs linux with win2k boxes running cvsnt, which is
not the same as your setup. for connection problems that could be crucial to
getting it to work.

but, as a general troubleshooting tip, if you can get pserver working
without ssh, then you can easily get it set up with a tunnel. i would say as
a first step, connect to the server using pserver and try to get that to
work. Once that is running, work on getting the ssh tunnel going using
putty. (or maybe wincvs includes ssh? not familiar with this either)

I'm trying your luck with the cvsnt mailing list since it sounds like a
server/client problem specific to that combo and they might be the go.
Anyone here have any suggestions?

Cheers,

Matthew Herrmann

Subject: CVSNT Setup Help?

Hi. Please excuse the direct email, but I am at my wit's end (as you
might be able to tell since this post is on a Sunday morning here). I
saw your usenet post to gnu.cvs.help about getting started, and
thought you would have some good newbie info for me....

I have CVSNT 2.0.4 and an SSH server running on my Win2K server and
OpenSSH and WinCVS on the client. Actually right now both client and
server are the same machine. The SSH server is running on a high
port.

I have used OpenSSH to logon to my SSH server with a passphrase-free
key pair. That works fine.

My problem is that I can't figure out the right commands (CVSROOT,
etc) in order to connect. I tried :ssh: but I get an error message
about CVSNT not being able to handle a port besides 22. Should I run
pserver and somehow tunnel SSH in there?

More than a little confused, any help you can give is greatly
appreciated.

Thanks.
