[cvsnt] how to export a file on server and again how to import it from server to the host machine

dear sir/madam,
      
      i am doing a task of migrating the windows
machine to linux.here am getting some problems like---

 how to keep the data's of windows machine safely on a
server and again after installing the linux on that
machine , how to get back those data's from server to
that machine.
