Tony,

I have already tried that incantation with the same results.  Let's
approach this from another direction.  What I would like to have at the
end of the day is the ability to create users and groups via the Windows
Active Directory and assign individual users to groups such that their
repository access is limited.  This way all "access" is managed within
AD and the only thing that a user has to do is run the Tortoise (or
other) client and that client will use their current user credentials
(given they are logged onto the Windows domain) to authorize and/or
authenticate against the repository they are trying to access on the
Debian box.  This works great with Samba/Winbind and native Windows
applications but I have not been able to do this with CVSNT.  What do
you suggest?

That happens if you don't initially run cvs as root - it can't switch
to the correct user.
