Post the output from cvs -t -t -t update (at least the last 20 or so 
lines before the error), and I'll see if I can work out where it's failing.

If you want to risk it (provided I can find out what the memory error 
is) then go ahead.. I'm just saying I don't recommend it...

With the timestamps I found that something like:

notepad foo.txt
cvs commit foo.txt

..didn't commit the file.  If you then wait 3-4 seconds then redo the

cvs commit foo.txt

.. it commits normally.  It looks like the file operations are batched 
in some way (or at least the timestamp is, which is what CVS uses to 
work out what to commit).

That doesn't mean you'll definately lose data, but:

notepad foo.txt
cvs update foo.txt

..would do so, if cvs didn't know that you'd changed the file while it 
would updating.
