[cvsnt] Recommendations for Moving Servers

[Siegfried Heintze] I'm replacing my old $300 garage sale CVSNT hardware
with some new hardware. I figure the easiest way to do it is to just use the
old IP address on the new box and copy the repository files across (after
installing the latest CVSNT, of course) by just drag and drop with windows
explorer.

Any comments?

Unfortunately, out of naïveté, all my sand boxes use numeric IP addresses. I
guess in this case, however, that won't be a problem. Correct?

Any other hints on moving repositories from one windows server to another?

Since I'm too cheap to buy a second license for WinXP2003 Server, I was
thinking about installing Fedora or SuSe on that old $300 server and putting
it outside my router/firewall (since my cheap routers don't know how to deal
with multiple IP addresses). Could I just copy my repositories to this linux
machine? Woops, the IP address would be different, however. What is the
ramification of that? Is it only the sandboxes that care about the IP
address of the repository?

I'm hopeful I can find that response to my earlier query that explains how
to edit the sand box files to make them point to another IP address.

Thanks,
Siegfried
