What about a *folder* with the name core???
Directories cannot really be thought of as having a unix core inside?

John,

In Unix, the ancestral home of CVS, "core" is the standard name of the file that core dumps are written in when the OS crashes. As such, "core" files are usually huge and are not something anyone is interested in archiving. So, CVS is trying to be helpful and not put it in the repository.

One of the CVS folks will have to tell you if there is a work around for adding an "innocent" core file to the repository.

Merrill
