[cvsnt] performence problem

There have been several reports of slowdowns on more recent CVSNT versions against older (early 2.0.x) ones.  Certainly the later releases are doing more, and that functionality may have a tradeoff... Tony, just out of interest, are you aware of anything that might cause a naively-configured CVSNT to make much heavier use of temp files than it used?
