Seems like this is the effect of using the newsreader in a hotel on a
flakey WiFi network connection. Probably the connection was dropped
during body fetches and the newsreader determined that these messages
were no longer available.
Going back to my home newsreader (via remote desktop) I determined
that the messages were still there...
