[cvsnt] CVS Best practices

Is there any book or website that has a best practices guide to using CVS?

I can look at the manual to get all the technical details. But i keep 
running into different problems and i wish i would have known how to set 
things up properly to begin with, but instead i keep having to go back 
and fix things, which is time consuming.

is the only way to learn how to use it to mess up a lot?  or is there 
some kind of best practices book of doing software projects in CVS?
