It wouldn't hurt - but make sure you have a backup.

Depends on what you mean by supported. The commercial support is only "officially" for RHEL4 since that is what we validate on, but the packages I believe are built on RH9 and the cvs.cvsnt.org server may also be RH9 - not sure. The only other support is this newsgroup - and there may (or may not) be other RHEL3 users out there to help you.

It is disabled by default.

Yes - but obviously there will be no history.

The documentation is in the configuration files and the source code. If you'd like to write something in the Wiki you can request authoring permission and away you go.

You are able to contribute to the open source project documentation by checking out the source docbook and adding stuff. Post the patches to the dev group, or request commit rights.

The eBook is bundled with the commercial version and documents "best practice" and "commercially supported features". Eg: the current version does not document the mail plugin (it documents CVSMailer instead) since at the time of writing the mail plugin was experimental. The eBook update for 2.5.03 is still being written but will probably document the mail plugin and drop the CVSMailer doco.

It's both. The eBook page has a link to the table of contents.
