Pserver works with HOSTS file perfectly. I simply do not want to
hard-code the true Windows host name, since there is no dedicated
central server in my home (naturally) and the cvs server can change
over time.

Of course, it is just another corner case. But I really do not mind
`other people' sniffing on my home network ;-).

Anyway, though enough has been said about the insecurity of pserver, I
still find that pserver is the mostly widely used CVS protocol. Of
course I do not recommend this usage.
