Thanks for the info. One more question.

Does the network compression take place when India would be checking in
also, or is it only used during checkouts and updates?

I don't think this is related to TortoiseCVS at all.  If the problem is
the same from the command line as from the GUI then that'll prove it.

If you are using CVSNT Server (on unix/linux/whatever) refer you post to
the CVSNT newsgroup.  If it's nongnu CVS then refer to the nongnu cvs
newsgroup.

If you are using CVSNT Server condsider trying the 2.5.04 test release.
You can set up a caching read/write server in FL then checkouts will
happen from the "local" server and "commits" will go through the FL
server to India. A reverse sync then updates the FL server.  Also 2.5.04
uses checksum rather than diffs when files are large (eg: binary files)
which also provides a boost in WAN performance.
