[cvsnt] CVS Update Error

running command:

cvs update -P
cvs update: warning: unrecognized response `Assertion 
failed:(rcs->rcsbuf.lockId) , function RCS_head, file rcs.cpp, line 
2758.' from cvs server

The update hangs there. This started after running:

cvs commit -f -m "no message"
cvs commit: warning: unrecognized response `cvs in free(): error: junk 
pointer, too high to make sense' from cvs server
cvs commit: warning: unrecognized response `cvs in malloc(): error: 
recursive call' from cvs server

If anyone can figure this issue out, please post the resolution. Thank you
