Gabriel,

Thanks for that feedback - I've been asking for feedback on the 'upgrade audit' button for months now... I've just put some improvements in so it should behave somewhat better in the next build - but nothing stood out as really wrong in the existing code (though it was a bit messy and no tracing so impossible to tell for sure). For anyone else trying to solve this in the future, please:
1) exit control panel
2) set the registry variable ServerTraceFile (see FAQ)
3) run control panel and hit upgrade button
4) send the relavent parts only of the trace in the body of a message to the newsgroup (ie: the lines with the "alter table" statements etc towards the end of the trace...

Did you install the 2.5.04 server or client package and if you installed both then what order did you install them in?

I've no idea what could have caused the control panel not to appear - the most likely explanation is that you installed the server package then the client. But it's good to know the repair option does what it says on the tin. It may be worth encouraging people to uninstall 2.5.03 then install 2.5.04 since the 2.5.03 package was client and server combined and the new is either client or server so it's possible that windows gets itself confused...

Regards,

Arthur

Subject:	[cvsnt] Problems upgrading to 2.5.04.3125

Hello

I had some problems upgrading CVSNT 2.5.03.something to 2.5.04.3125; it's
working fine now, but I'd like to report them in case someone has a
similar problem.

Once the install finished and I had to restart the server, I noticed that
there was NO control panel icon for CVSNT, neither in the Windows control
panel nor in the menu item.
Executing `cvs version` on the client showed this error message
"audit_trigger database is version 1 but need version 3". I could find no
menction of this message in the manual, nor anywhere, so I guessed the
Control Panel should have an Upgrade button or something... I re-run the
installation, choosing "Repair", and after rebooting the server again, at
last I got the CVSNT Control Panel.
There was an "upgrade" button, but it didn't work (with a File not Found
error or similar). Looking in the install dir I found some sql files; I
opened the two related to my database (sqlite), I had to replace all
%PREFIX% occurences by (nothing), and after executing both sql scripts the
server worked fine.
