Not true, actually.  If you check them out in NT you'll probably end up
with CR/LF/LF or CR/CR/LF which needs changing to CR/LF then committing
back in again.  Your editor was perhaps hiding this from you.

This isn't a CVS problem it's a result of sharing files between Unix and
NT without using CVS as an intermediary - this is almost always fatal. 
Users should remember to use Unix CVS on Unix and Windows CVS on Windows
to preserve the correct line endings for each platform.  Sharing sandboxes
via samba or NFS or copying file between systems without checkin/checkout
will result in nasty problems like this.
