[cvsnt] CVSROOT env var on Win XP ignored for cvsnt commands

Hi

I have cvsnt v2.0.14 installed as server on w2k pro.... and as client on win
XP pro
my CVSROOT environment variable is set to
:sspi:machine.domainname:/cvsroot
trying to do a (for example) "cvs status" it  fails with the error
"cvs [status aborted]: bad auth protocol start: BEGIN AUTH REQUEST"
whereas if I do
"cvs -d  %CVSROOT% status"

it works fine

why is it not picking up CVSROOT environment variable?
