[cvsnt] bad address error...

I'm trying to run down an error we started seeing recently, when checking
out or updating, it will fail with the following error:

[checkout aborted]: cannot rename file _new_Setup_and_User_D
ocument.doc to Setup_and_User_Document.doc: Bad address

We started seeing this on our main server (2.0.41a server/ 2.0.51d client)
but I've tried it on our test server (2.0.51c server / 2.0.51d client) and
even upgraded the test server and my client (2.0.62.1874 server /
2.0.62.1817 client) and I see the same problem.

I have been able to deduce that it only happens when the disk on the client
is under heavy load (I run into it while running a VM and checking out for a
test build). To test that theory, I left the machine idle and performed the
checkout and it worked fine. Repeated the test while doing a defrag, and it
failed every time (random file each time, but they all appeared to be binary
files).

We have a non-small repository, the module I'm checking out is >12K files
and 3.9GB (hundreds of revisions).

I was going to test the latest server, but I was having the lock problems
mentioned in earlier posts.

I've been able to repeat this on several machines and two different servers.

Any ideas for a solution (besides letting the machine go idle ;-))?

Thanks,

John Cole
