Focus on the important thing: finding (or, if necessary, recreating) the
file. At the end of the day "right" and "wrong" don't make software,
only the file does.

After the file has been found (see Peter's advice) figure out what
happened. Don't try to pin the blame on anyone, just focus on facts and
determine what is necessary to prevent a recurrence. As Sgt. Joe Friday
used to say, "Just the facts, please."
