Telstra Network Management System
Overview
NSS provides Telstra with a core system supporting the monitoring, utilisation, designing and ordering of configuration changes of the International Telecommunication Network.
The entire system consists of 3 applications, 150 database tables and 470 screens coded in Uniface 4GL.
Responsibilities
Consultant:
- Development of Uniface screens to provide database updates and reports from detailed design documents,
- Investigation and correction of bugs in existing Uniface screens,
- Performance tuning of existing Uniface screens.
Team Leading:
- Liaising with QA to develop testing strategies for new functions,
- Development of work priorities and timetabling with project manager,
- Monitoring progress of development, testing and maintenance work,
- Reporting on outstanding maintenance and design issues and work allocations,
- Development of standards,
- Team building and training.
Quality Assurance:
- Function testing individual screens
- Integration testing of the NSS applications
- Documenting test results
Environment
Client Server application using Uniface 4GL development tools accessing a central Oracle database.
